Westlife Nicky - Mary's not my aunt

Westlife Nicky was also stunned on the rumor about the Mary Byrne being his aunt. He said "It was just a twitter joke".

The Dublin-born singer explained how he caused a stir on his Twitter page when he made a light-hearted quip claiming that he and the talented Ballyfermot singer were closely related.

Nicky, right, told the Herald how his taunting comment were quickly taken out of context by fans and the media, who wasted little time in spreading with questions about the gag.

The singer said that immediately after that he made another post to clear the fans about this matter that he had no relation with her but however the damage was already done by fans and it all got a bit out of hand before he it

"I was just having a laugh by posting that she was my aunt on Twitter. She's not obviously but I thought it would be funny to just say something about her being my favourite auntie.

"The next thing I knew Louis (Walsh) was phoning me asking what was going on. It was all just a joke. I don't think anyone took it too seriously or was too upset about it. It just goes to show the power of Twitter though," he added.

Westlife to play Echo Arena date in Liverpool

FOLLOWING a hugely successful UK tour earlier this year chart kings Westlife will be hitting the road again next March.

Tickets are on sale now to see the band at the Echo Arena Liverpool on Friday, March 18.

The show will include the band’s biggest hits as well as tracks off their 2009 double platinum album Where We Are and from the brand new album they are currently in the studio working on, due for release in November this year.Š Š

A spokeswoman said: “Westlife are among the world’s most prolific touring acts and no pop band can compare to their extraordinary success, having been certified by the BPI as the biggest selling band of the past decade.

“During their 11 years at the top of pop’s hierarchy, the band has sold more than 43m records globally.”

Westlife draw in the crowds










The fans queued from the early hours of the morning in anticipation for Sandown Park’s last concert of the summer series which featured the Irish Pop group sensation Westlife performing live after racing to a bumper crowd of over 14,000 people.

Opening their concert with their hit “Where we are”, the enthusiastic crowd screamed in excitement as the boys, Shane, Kian, Mark and Nicky stepped onto the stage. Westlife who are currently on a UK summer tour called The Where we are Tour, performed classic songs such as Flying without Wings, Uptown Girl as well as new numbers from their latest album.

David Mackinnon, managing director for Sandown Park Racecourse, said, “Our music evenings throughout the summer have proved extremely popular with our racing fans with Spandau Ballet kicking off the first of our concerts, followed by Razorlight and ending with the boys from Westlife.

It's the biggest ever live music event in Mansfield at the new music venue, where X-Factor finalists recently played. A total of 15,000 tickets are on sale for Westlife. To have them here at Mansfield is wonderful. We've never seen anything like this before."It's also a great boost to the economy. It will benefit the local business community and raise the profile of the town as a whole." A park and ride service will operate on the day from the Civic Centre to Field Mill Stadium.

With Take That producer Westlife team up


Westlife are reportedly teaming up with the producer who is behind Take That's current comeback.

The Irish pop group are working on their new album with top American producer John Shanks, reports the Irish Daily Star.
A source told the newspaper: "It's a major coup for Westlife to get this producer he's produced all the big acts from Bon Jovi to the Backstreet Boys and Take That.
"They wanted him for their last album but weren't able to get him. They're thrilled that he's agreed to work with them on this album."
Shanks worked on the Take That albums 'Beautiful World' and 'The Circus' and wrote their number one hits 'Greatest Day and Patience'.
Westlife flew to London last week to begin work on their new record, which they plan to release in November.

In Surrey Westlife's Shane lives the high life


Westlife crooner Shane Filan, 30, and his wife Gillian are enjoying life in their new Surrey bolthole - a Georgian house in Cobham which is set in half an acre.
'It's private and we have great neighbours. We plan to spend half the year here and half in Ireland,' says Shane, who also owns a mock Tudor mansion in Carraroe, Co. Sligo.
Shane is already familiar with the area as he takes his children Nicole Rose, five, Patrick Michael, one, and six month old Shane Peter to near by Chessington World of Adventures, and he enjoys playing golf at Wentworth.
Shane and brother Finbarr are spearheading a luxury housing development in Sligo where they hope to build 63 apartments.

10,000 Fans Expected At Ashton Gate For Westlife Gig

10,000 people are expected at Ashton Gate this evening to watch Westlife perform.

The "man band" have sold 43 million records worldwide, with 14 number one singles and 10 chart-topping albums.

With a capacity of 15,000 at Bristol City's ground, there are still around 5,000 tickets left for the gig.

Bosses are hoping it is going to be a family event, and have now released a special family ticket for two adults and two children, that can be purchased for £50.

Group Managing Director of Bristol City FC, Doug Harman is expecting a great crowd:

"I think they've had some really good reviews from their tour to date, and we anticipate a really good show. We've just released two more blocks for general sale to families, so we can get two adults and two kids in for £50. The weather forecast is brilliant, so if people have got no plans we recommend they come and see a really good show with us."
